Excerpts
from the LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE OF 1991 (R.A. 7160)
Article
19, Section 489
states that "The appointment
of a veterinarian officer is mandatory
for provincial and city government".
Article
19, Section 489.3.iv
further
states that the provincial or city veterinarian
shall: "Enforce all
laws and regulations for the prevention of cruelty
to animals"
The above provisions of the Local Government Code
is clear. If your city or province is without
an officially designated city or provincial veterinarian,
please write to your respective local officials,
regarding the need for such a person with the
said designation, who will be mandated by law
to look after the welfare of the animals in his/her
jurisdiction.
